The Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) is a Sussex-wide initiative and part of a national strategy to reduce the number and severity of road casualties. The Sussex Safer Roads Partnership aims to reduce road casualties by enforcing speed limits, traffic light compliance and educating road users.
We have a vacancy for a highly motivated, committed and energetic individual to undertake the role of Data Technician with in the Data Analysis Team. We are looking for a proactive, self-confident person with a high level of integrity. This important role helps to reduce road traffic casualties by maintaining the collision database and providing support to senior staff and other members of the partnership to assist in the planning of road safety activities. You will be required to amend, validate and improve the quality of STATS19 collision data currently issued by Sussex Police, taking day-to-day responsibility for the upkeep and accuracy of Sussex wide collision data in an AccsMap GIS database, identifying patterns in the data and ensuring up to date and accurate information is available at all times. You will need to have a demonstrable analytical or mapping background and/or a specific interest, experience or skills in analysing data and information. You will be able to gather information actively from a variety of sources using an inquisitive mind and good communication skills. Training will be given, but you will need to have the ability to work independently. Knowledge/use of a GIS system would be an advantage, while good MS Office skills are essential.
The position is based at Shoreham Police Station and is subject to vetting and police background checks.
