Speeding is one of the three most common complaints levied at Neighbourhood Policing Teams at Neighbourhood Panel meetings across the county. Enforcement activity in rural areas has, however, highlighted that a large percentage of those stopped for speeding reside with the parish concerned.

The Stop Speeding Campaign has been developed to address this and is being run throughout Sussex to raise awareness of the impact of speed in the community.

The campaign aims to:

  • Encourage drivers to keep within the speed limit
  • Raise awareness of the dangers of speeding not only to drivers and their passengers, but to all road users
  • Involve the community in speed reduction
  • Improve the environment of local communities by reducing danger and nuisance to other road users
  • Make speeding as socially unacceptable as Drink Driving has become

Supported by all Partners, the Stop Speeding Campaign will also provide a visible road-side presence where drivers' speeds are monitored and any driver not wearing a seatbelt or seen using a mobile phone will be identified.

To help raise awareness in your community, please feel free to download and distribute our Stop Speeding Campaign poster and flier.
