New Driver Awareness

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail

The New Driver Awareness workshop (NDA) is designed to increase new drivers’ skills on the road, through an informal and interactive 90-minute classroom-based session delivered by Road Safety professionals.

And, importantly, it's free!

New drivers are at significant statistical risk – national figures indicate that 20% will have a collision within their first 12 months on the road.  The NDA Course aims to give new drivers the extra knowledge and skills they require to avoid collisions and build experience for a lifetime of safer driving.

The content of the workshop is based on the previous Pass Plus course, which ran successfully across Sussex until mid-2010.  Topics covered during the 90-minute session include:

  • General knowledge around motoring issues
  • The technicalities of driving
  • The influence of attitude and emotion on driving style
  • Defensive driving
  • Causes and consequences of collisions
  • Additional training opportunities (signposting organisations such as the IAM, RoSPA and the national Pass Plus scheme).

The workshops are delivered by Road Safety professionals supported by an approved presentation, which is flexible enough to be delivered in colleges, youth groups, at training events and other suitable venues.

There's no test to take at the end of the workshop and we're also working on a range of special offers to present to all those who attend.

If you think that you'd benefit from taking a New Driver Awareness workshop (or know someone who would) - contact us today to find out when your next session is!

If you live in the Brighton and Hove area, there will be a session on 8th May 2012 from 2-4pm. Please contact us to book a (free) place.
