New Driver Awareness

Experience and age are two defining factors for drivers on today's roads.  Young drivers have a unique set of challenges facing them as they learn to drive on their own for the first time.

Research suggests there are three main factors that identify why young and novice drivers are at a greater risk. These are:

  • A lower level of technical competence.
  • A lack of experience and subsequently poorer road sense.
  • An attitude which results in ‘risk’ taking.

The Sussex Safer Roads Partnership has developed the 'New Driver Awareness' programme to help new drivers increase their knowledge and skills on the road.  This free workshop also contains some special offers for attendees and is being supported by road safety professionals from across the SSRP. 

We also suggest that new drivers undertake some additional training to help them make the most of their lives on the roads.
