A request by Sompting Parish Council and local police for waiting restrictions to be introduced in Cokeham Road will be discussed at the next public meeting of Adur County Local Committee.

The Committee will discuss introducing:

  • No Waiting At Any Time on the north side of Cokeham Road, from Western Road to Berriedale Drive.
  • No Waiting At Any Time on the south side of Cokeham Road, from the junction of Western Road eastwards for 20 metres (65 feet) and for 15 metres (49 feet) west of the entrance to the residential car park.
  • No Waiting At Any Time restriction on both sides of Cokeham Road for approximately 15 metres either side of the central refuge island, and on the south western corner with Cokeham Lane.
  • No Waiting At Any Time restriction on Cokeham Lane, from the junction with Cokeham Road southwards, for 15 metres on the west side and 10 metres (32 feet) on the east side.

Robert Dunn, Committee Chairman, said: “Studies have shown that parking along this road can lead to hazards for motorists, people getting out of cars and for pedestrians.”

The meeting is being held on Thursday November 25 at the Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, Shoreham, starting at 7pm.
