Please be aware of the following traffic bulletin from the Highways Agency:

Road users planning to drive through areas near the routes of the Olympic Road Cycling Time Trial event tomorrow (Wednesday), are reminded of Highways Agency advice to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys as they travel to these exciting events.

Numerous local roads will be closed as the course passes through the London Borough of Richmond, the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, and the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey.

The only planned closure in the area on the roads managed by the Highways Agency is the southbound A3 exit slip road at Painshill, which will be closed from 8.30am. 

But due to the extent of local road closures, and because it is a week day, there will be more traffic on other roads, including on major roads such as the A3 and the M25.

Tomorrow, drivers travelling northbound who wish to exit the A3 at Painshill will only be able to turn left to Byfleet and Woking; it will not be possible to access Cobham until the race is finished and adjacent roads are reopened.

The Highways Agency is working to ensure that traffic keeps moving on motorways and major roads in England throughout the Games period and drivers are urged to look out for electronic message signs which will carry information on current conditions.  Traffic officers and incident support units will be ready to deal with any incidents as quickly as possible and patrols will be positioned at key locations to ensure a swift response. 

All non-essential roadworks on key routes have been suspended to keep as many lanes as possible available to traffic. Our service providers will be permitted to carry out maintenance at night but all roadworks will have to be cleared before the next day.
