The £300,000 West Sussex County Council scheme will give the bridge a longer working life and improve its safety.

The scheme is scheduled to take up to 16 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Work will be carried out Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm, and occasionally on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.

One lane will be closed in both directions on the road, for the duration of the scheme. A maximum speed limit of 40mph will also be in place.
